Once again, the Greggs marketing department have absolutely smashed it with yet another elaborate stunt. Welcome the vegan sausage roll, the newest marketing weapon in the Greggs arsenal, notably said to be their contribution to “Veganuary”, in which everyone is encouraged to try a vegan diet for the month of January. Marketing it similarly to how Apple would present a brand new phone, they even include a box following this theme.
The box the vegan sausage roll comes in keeps to its Apple inspired theme very well, including the vegan sausage roll inside in place of a phone. As a marketing strategy, this is brilliant, but this is not the first time the Greggs Marketing Department have smashed it. The vegan sausage roll may well be the most recent stunt, but it is far from the only one. Another recent feat taking place over the Christmas period was the reversal of the sign in order to reflect the right way around in the Fenwicks Christmas Window.
Beyond this, Greggs even showed us the love in the nativity play, replacing baby Jesus with the classic sausage roll within the Christmas period of 2017. Arguably, this nativity scene was the best one yet, although this time they did feel they had gone a bit too far and apologised.
But in summary, the vegan sausage roll is great, Greggs is great, and the Marketing Department is even greater still.
