We’re a people-first agency, and apart from nebbing at our /team page, our clients always love to know a little bit more about the people they’re (potentially) working with. This time we’re talking to Director, Jason Nixon! 🙂
Who are you and what do you do?
Hi! 👋 I’m Jason. I founded Be Found Be Chosen in 2015 alongside the formidable Jennifer Freeman. I can’t believe we are 8 years into that journey. My role is wearing a few hats but mostly – Google Ads Client Work, Feed Optimisation, Finance, Operations, Coffee Machine Cleaning, Hoovering, Aquarium Maintenance, Client Calls and anything else that comes up.
What does a typical Monday look like for you?
Get up, go for a run, take my kids to school, get to work, pick up a bite to eat on the way (Pink Lane Bakery is my fave), have a coffee then get into it. Firstly check the weekend performance of the overall agency accounts and get deeper into the ones I’m looking after. I like to get my week sorted ahead of me, know where I’m at with client meetings and if I’m involved in any new business pitches.
What’s so great about working at Be Found?
Having a proper team of forward thinking adults. We employ on an attitude first / experience second basis so everyone fits and it’s much easier to get stuff done. We can be choosy around the clients we take on so we don’t suffer any unreasonable requests. It means everyone can enjoy their work and not dread Monday mornings. If there’s anything wrong, talk to me and we’ll fix it.
Highlight of your career so far
Loads of great stuff and some crap things have happened so far. 2 great things stand out –
1. Getting the sign up at the arch office. Never had a sign before and it really felt like we suddenly belonged somewhere. And that somewhere is right in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, the greatest city on earth.
2. I came into our office and one of our members of staff was hunched down like a teenager on one of the comfy sofas, shoes off with big geeky headphones on, looking studiously at her work laptop. I stopped and looked at her and thought, ‘this girls’ not stressed at work, she doesn’t give a f*&^’. That moment there. Probably my favourite.

Best bit of digital marketing advise in one sentence?
Don’t change everything at once. I’ve seen it so many times. An account is not working so big sweeping changes are made and it just tanks further. Take it easy. Be decisive but don’t make massive sweeping changes.
Favourite marketing campaign?
Has to be Kylie Minogue Agent Provocateur cinema campaign. With it being cinema-only there was such a huge sense of mystique about it as it was just not readily available to be consumed like all content is now. It was also voted ‘Greatest Cult Cinema Ad’ of all time by a poll conducted by DCM. And… let’s address the elephant in the room – it was Kylie Minogue in Agent Provocateur lingerie which appeals to me. (Am I allowed to say that any more? Probably not).

What does it take to work here?
You have to want to get better at your craft. We’re too small to take passengers. Everyone has a say and we need to hear the ideas. If there is a new challenge in the office, we are guaranteed that someone in the room will know about it. That’s the beauty of having experienced, bright people. I aim to be the thickest person in the room.
Dream client?

I love some businesses like Guitar Guitar and Gymshark but to be honest, a dream client is someone who is exciting to be around, wants to move forward, trusts what you’re doing and can tell you when they think you’ve got it wrong. It goes both ways. Sometimes a client has to be told they don’t have a great idea or they’ll end up like Terence Trent D’Arby on his 2nd album.
