Choosing the Right Digital Agency for You

As we all know, there are hundreds of digital agencies throughout the UK offering a variety of different services, some specialise in one service such as Google Ads management, others offer the full digital strategy. So I wanted to share why I feel it is better to choose a full service agency over an agency who specialise in one service.

For ecommerce companies, not only is it important to choose the right agency for them, one they gel with, trust and who will work with them as an extension of their team, it is, in my opinion, equally as important for the business to view the partnership as a long term investment and find an agency who can accommodate their growth.

Streamlining your Digital Marketing

I speak to a few companies who have the different arms of their digital marketing with different agencies and some have said they don’t like to “put all their eggs in one basket” and I do, to a point, see their reasoning for this. However, think of it this way, if you needed a new bathroom suite, would you go to B&Q for the bath, Homebase for the basin and then Victoria Plumb for the toilet in the hope they will all match and fit together? I’m guessing it would be a no, you would buy the full suite from one store!

Similarly with digital marketing, if you have PPC with one agency, SEO with another and then Paid Social with a third, you are then faced with the struggle of how will they work together to compliment what the other is doing? How will the Account Managers of each share knowledge of what is and isn’t working in the account? How will they communicate to ensure each area is working hand in hand for keyword research, targeting etc? Simply put, they can’t! So each “arm” of your digital marketing would work independently and be unable to support each other.

Bringing your full digital marketing strategy under one roof would ensure that every area would be working together, sharing ideas, discussing strategy, complimenting each other (and I don’t mean saying their colleague is pretty 🤣). Ensuring each member of the team pulls together, helps each other and strives for the success of their client.

Save Time with a Full Service Agency

There is also your time to consider, if you have three agencies to oversee which means three contacts to speak with, three monthly meetings (at the very least) and three reports to go through to analyse results.

If you were with a single agency, that is one agency to oversee, one main point of contact, one monthly meeting with all three Account Managers on the same call and one monthly report to analyse.

If you think about it, would your time be put to better use attending three meetings, sifting through three reports and trying to speak to three different agencies or actually running your business and ensuring it is a success?

Save Money With a Full Service Agency

Not to mention the fees you may be faced with! Think about it, if you have three agencies you have three management fees, your accounts department have three invoices to deal with and you have to set up three direct debit payments! You will probably be charged the agency’s standard fee for one service multiplied by three too, which could work out pretty expensive!

You may get this far and be thinking “well I’m only looking to have one service so why not go to an agency who specialises in that?” I totally understand where you are coming from, but think about what I said earlier, think about the bigger picture, think about growth… Yes, you may start off, as most businesses do, with one service but as that develops and you begin to see the return on investment and the growth, you will naturally begin to look at other strategies to increase growth further. If you are with an agency who only accommodates one service, what do you do then?

Better to start with an agency where you can build trust and grow with, who can offer you what you need, instead of having to start looking again down the line and build the trust from scratch and have to teach them about your business in order for them to know how to promote you!
